3 events in 3 weeks, part 1

When it rains it pours. I feel fortunate to have these amazing opportunities come my way. It makes for busy times, but I prefer it that way. Ok. Part 1:
The Sculpture Center presents Lauren Herzak-Bauman: Passages At the Euclid Avenue Gallery April 27 – May 26, 2012 Opening and artist talk: Friday April 27, 5:30-8pm Friday, May 18 at 8:30 PM A 30 minute live performance by FiveOne Experimental Orchestra, like she said, everything's fine. In the Euclid Avenue Gallery accompanying the exhibition Lauren Herzak-Bauman: Passages. Free Lauren Herzak-Bauman uses the medium or clay to express feelings of mourning and loss thereby transforming a gallery into a somber and reflective space. Drawing from the engrained culture of her childhood Russian Orthodox background, in which repetitive objects are used to mourn lost loved ones, the artist will install hundreds of porcelain memorial plaques emblazoned with fading images to recreate the processional aspects and paying of respect that are associated with loss. For her porcelain mimics the human condition in 'its strength and fragility, pure whiteness, and translucency' and is a conduit for remembrance. *more images to be posted on my website soon.*
